I've been at my new job for about a month now. It's a big leap from what I was doing but it's exactly the opportunity I was looking for. I'm so happy my new boss, Nancy, took a leap of faith and hired me. She said she could just tell how bad I wanted it. I did. I wanted it REAL bad. While I'm SUPER excited about my new position there is some bad news. My commute is an hour long, my office has no windows and I work 9-5:30 so this time of year I get home after dark. I basically get home in time to put Eisley to bed. It's an adjustment for everyone. The good news is you girls are finally starting to love your dad. Now that you spend regular time with him it turns out he's not such a bad guy! Some day he's going to read this and say "You didn't have to put that in there!" but it's true. You girls have been nothin but mean to him but lately you're loving your daddy time. I love when you love him! In other news Eisley is talking a l...

I might jinx myself and I don't want to, so let's go into some funny memories lately first! At the grocery store: A very large, intimidating, scary-looking man walks past us, doing his own shopping. He's bald, wearing black and also happens to have earrings. Kaybree watches him walk past. Kaybree: He is a girl. Me: What? Kaybree: He's a girl he has these *tugs on her ears* like you. I laughed and explained boys can sometimes have earrings too. I'm just glad she waited until he was out of ear shot before she released her fact about him. He may have been offended with the matter-of-fact way she said it. Yesterday I was taking a shower and both of you girls were being clingy and didn't want to be locked out of the bathroom so you were banging at the door and trying to convince me to open it. Kaybree did her best to think of some reason she HAD to get into the bathroom and came up with: Kaybree: I need to go potty! Me: Go in your own! Eisley: I nee go po...

The older you get the more your different personalities are coming out. It's so fun! Kaybree has always wanted to be just like all the big girls she sees. You want to do what everyone else does and you fit right in! You go with the flow very well but you do your best to lead--while following. I know that doesn't make a ton of sense but basically you're the leader of the crowd. You follow everyone else but you don't let anyone step on you. You know you're the cutest thing around and you flaunt it a little bit. You pretend to be shy (because that's the cool thing to do) but you're excited to tell everyone all about your boo boos or the puppies you saw at the mall or anything else going on in your life. This week you started preschool and you were so excited. As soon as we got there you followed Teagan right inside, waving and calling goodbye to me as you went. No hesitation. Life has changed. Eisley is walking. Yes, she's 17 months old. You've actually been taking steps for weeks but you have to be coerced into it. Now you're full on walking. It's glorious. When we took you to your 15 month check up the doc said to call him in 6 weeks if you weren't walking. You started taking steps that night but it's been literally 6 weeks since that appointment and you were still only walking when we set you up on your feet and begged you to walk. I was getting worried. I wanted to call the doctor, but your dad said no. I was just worried because you were not standing up on your own. You would grab onto things and pull yourself up, but if you were sitting in the middle of the room you could not get up. Well on Thursday I came to pick you up late from Amy's house and all the girls were running around screaming, being crazy, and all of a sudden you stuck your butt in the air, stood up, and went running right along with them. Happy birthday Kaybree! We opted for no big family party this year but we still made the day special. I took the day off work and we went to Makutus Island, a big indoor play place in Chandler. I had never been before but I invited Melissa and Brekken to come with us to check it out. A lot of the structures were built for bigger kids and there were a LOT of bigger kids there (summer camp) so you were overwhelmed at first. In fact you refused to even try to go on most structures and you screamed and cried as I carried you through the maze. I thought for sure once we had been through the whole thing you'd realize it wasn't scary--but just like everything else, if you don't want to do it--you don't do it. We settled for the toddler play area filled with some blocks and little baby slides until you got comfortable. Kaybree, You've been asking for months to go to dance class. Ever since Violet started dance you've been dying to go. You dance all the time. You're always performing. I told you you would go when you get bigger so you've been telling everyone you're going to get big and go to school and dance. Well yesterday we had your first dance class--and it sucked. Shaunelle was confused about when I would be picking you up so you missed your nap. When we got to the class you were fine and excited but when you had to spend the first few minutes sitting and listening you grew anxious. After a few minutes you stood up, ran to me, and refused to leave my side. I held you at the back of the class for a while and we watched the other girls start their stretches.
